Visual Mental Rehearsal with the Joseph Clough twist!
Why use Visual Mental rehearsal?
Many sports such as golf, tennis and skating, not only require physical skills, but the best have a strong mental game as well. Most coaches preach the line that sports are 90% mental and only 10% physical which is interesting. Especially in sports where hundredths of a second or tenths of an inch separate the champions from the mediocre athletes, an extra edge can be extremely crucial. Hence, numerous athletes are turning towards mental imagery to take their game to the next level.
What if we used Visual Mental rehearsal for every day living?
Well it will mean we prepare
how our day can go! We can teach our unconscious mind to make our
thoughts, our dreams to become a reality. Auto suggestion in many
ways – when we go there in the mind we can go there in body.
Dr. Denis Waitley, Ph.D, Psychologist The Psychology of
Winning said this about Visual Motor Rehearsal: ‘When you
visualize, then you materialize.’ And the interesting thing about
the mind is, we took Olympic athletes and then hooked them up to
sophisticated biofeedback equipment, and had them run their event
ONLY in their mind. Incredibly, the same muscles fired, in the same
sequence when they were running the race in their mind, as when
they were running it on the track. How could this be? Because
the mind can’t distinguish whether you’re really doing it,
or whether it’s just a practice. I think if you’ve been there in
the mind, you’ll go there in the body.”
Now go and listen to my thoughts of how you can apply this into day to day living for superb success in all areas of your life!
